This LED Candle features the St. Peregrine on the front, and the Prayer to St. Peregrine in both English and Spanish on the back.
Saint Peregrine (1260-1345) was born in Italy to a wealthy family and became involved in politics as a young man, joining the enemies of the Church. It was Peregrine who during an uprising struck St. Philip Benizi in the face; when Philip offered the other cheek, Peregrine repented and converted. Heeding Phillip’s counsel to go to the cathedral and pray to Our Lady, Peregrine had a vision of the Blessed Mother holding in her hands a black religious habit instructing him to travel to Sienna. There he was clothed in the Servite religious habit by none other than St. Philip Benizi. Once an enemy of the Church, Peregrine’s deep conversion led to a saintly life and his great fervor as a confessor brought many back to the Church. Peregrine developed a cancerous growth in his leg and doctors told him the leg would have to be amputated. The night before the operation he had a dream of Jesus reaching out His hand to touch his sickly limb, and the following morning he was completely healed. He died in 1345 at the age of 85. He is the patron saint of cancer patients. His feast day is May 1.
This candle is perfect for anyone who is devoted to St. Peregrine and glows beautifully in the dark.
